Networking is an investment for any entrepreneur. For self-employed notary publics, networking is especially important. This is where we distinguish ourselves from the hundreds of other notary publics. Creating that relationship with repeat clients is very valuable for  notary publics.

Mobile notary publics, who are also loan signing agents needs to network heavily with escrow companies, title companies, and attorneys. Unfortunately, having even a handful of such clients are still not enough. In order to have a steady flow of work, a notary public should have at least a dozen of such clients.

Being a mobile notary public in Encino, my bulk of clientele come from Google (about 90%) and Yelp (9%) and the rest from various online notary directories. But I try not to spend too much time and/or money into this type of marketing. I’m much more interested in obtaining clients that will be using my services on a regular basis. That is why networking is so important to my business.

We are an Encino notary public company that performs loan signing services for banks and escrow companies. Additionally, we also perform the typical notary assignments. Furthermore, we courier documents from client to attorney, as a built in cost to mobile notary our services.

I also provide signing services. Attorneys that need a traveling notary that can take documents to their clients to sign and be notarized. This includes prenuptial agreements, Trusts and contracts. In addition, our signing services also acts as a same day courier. Our signing services accomplishes 3 things:

  1. Provide additional value to the attorney/law firm. Clients no longer need to hassle with difficult scheduling and traveling to the attorney’s office. We courier the documents to them at their convenience of time and location. Notarized those documents and return them to the attorney.
  2. We save everyone time. The attorney/law firm no longer need to hassle with scheduling their clients. Or having to travel to their client’s home/ business and lose valuable billing time. The attorney can now teleconference in while I conduct the signing of the legal documents.
  3. Saving money. Attorneys either bill by the hour or set a flat fee for thier service. We free up your time by having a notary signing agent service handle the signing of the legal documents. Thus giving the attorney more time to work on other projects. A quick phone call will resolve most issues, if any arise during the signing.

Another week has come and gone as a Traveling Encino Notary Public. The loan signing side of my business has been rather slow. As a 24/7 mobile notary, it is important to have a wide pool of job sources. Whether it be attorneys, banker or escrow officer, a notary needs to continue to network. One thing I do focus on more than anything is online marketing. 90% of my business comes from people inquiring about notary publics near them. The rest is from Yelp, which I only maintain my free profile. (The cost of advertising on Yelp is  too high).

In addition to being a 24/7 notary public in Encino, Ca, I am also a tax preparer and an Independent LegalShield Associate. Preparing taxes is seasonal and helps cushion the slow times. LegalShield is a great way to build residual income. This is important for me since I am self-employed and have no vacations. With LegalShield I can have a small stream of income (goal to make it large) even during times when I am not actively working. We welcome any self-employed notary public to inquire more about it.

I am looking to network with other notary public’s.Referral work from another notary public is preferred over work from a signing company. I try not to work with signing companies. Signing companies are the middle men that take money away from notary publics. They rank high on search engines, bargin notary fees to a minimum and expect the notary to take the bottom barrel pricing.

Mobile Notary Public and Networking

Fast Notary service is a mobile notary public company. I joined an excellent referral networking group. They meet every week on Tuesday for breakfast. We find ways to help each other grow. The members of my chapter are great professionals and have great positive outlooks. It’s very important to network your notary business at every possible chance. I learned more about the networking scene this year. Networking groups are more effective than events because they there is more time to know each other.

Why Networking

I get to work on my business introduction as a Mobile Notary Public. It’s important to be able to “pitch” your Mobile Notary Public business confidently and concisely. You also build confidence in yourself and your business. Every meeting is another opportunity to do better. As you build your yourself, you build your business. These networking groups are a great ROI (return of investment). Total annual cost for being in a networking group is under $1,000.00, but  you can recoup the cost within a few months. If you paid that much money in a news or magazine ad, you wouldn’t see a return worth mentioning.

I meet with other groups, not just my chapter. Hopefully, I will meet more like minded people and expand my business through other professionals. I’ve tried networking through the local chamber of commerce, but it wasn’t enough. I will look into other chapters that are within my mobile notary service area: Calabasas, Woodland Hills, Tarzana, Encino, Sherman Oaks, Studio City, Beverly Hills and other nearby Los Angeles areas.

Networking is essential to new notary publics. This really enables them to learn their trade. Build expereince in professional social settings. Create connections that they didn’t have before. Expose their business to people who needs them. Personal development is also crucial. A networking group will help you refine and build your professional persona.

Why Notaries shouldn’t waste time on Uber

Instead of writing a long boring story of why self employed notaries (or anyone else fr that matter) shouldn’t use Uber as a way to earn additional money. The video below explains it perfectly. The video by SciQ really breaks down the awful reality of driving as a taxi service. As a mobile notary in Los Angeles, I am better off spending more time developing my notary business. After Hours Mobile Notary Public

Typically people work 9-5 jobs. That’s why i offer 24/7 mobile notary services to the public. Yes it may cost a little more because of a travel fee charge. It’s the cost of convenience for the client and the cost of business for myself.

Remember, a person has to take time out of their day, (unpaid time) to drive over to a notary public, look for parking, wait in line, get their docs notarized and then drive back in a rush. Yes that sounds a bit much, but those are the actions taken.

Whereas a call to Fast Notary Service to setup an appointment later in the day (home or coffee shop) to notarize at their leisure. Typically, a notarization of one document for one person’s signature takes only about 5 minutes. So your whole notary experience is boiled down to a 2 minute call and a quick meeting with you to notarize your documents. Whereas one driving over to a notary public would take at least an hour (depending on traffic and parking).

There are people who are fortunate enough to work near a notary public’s office. That reduces the time to about 20 minutes, but that is still 20 minutes of either unpaid time or taken away from your lunch.
